Kimberly A. Trotter
Kimberly A. Trotter is an Associate Attorney at Banks & Jones who joined the firm in May 2025 to continue her passion for service to her community through civil litigation.
Kimberly was born and raised in South Knoxville, and she is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Knoxville where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology: Criminal Justice. She was an active member of the campus Presbyterian Center and proudly competed as a Lady Vol on the rowing team. Kimberly graduated in 2011 where she went on to serve as an officer at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for over twelve years in the forensics unit.
During Ms. Trotter’s law enforcement career she became a P.O.S.T. certified officer after graduating from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy in 2012. In 2015, she graduated from the National Forensic Academy; fondly known as the “Harvard of Hellish Violence.” Throughout her career, she spent years gaining a unique set of skills ranging from crime scene investigation to courtroom testimony that lead to a passion for law.
Before leaving her law enforcement career in 2023 to focus on her studies, Kimberly continued to work night shift as an officer while attending classes during the day. She went on to graduate from Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law in 2024 as a part-time student with her Juris Doctorate and Masters of Public Administration. She received the General Oliver O. Howard Pro Bono award and was nominated for the Lincoln Award for Outstanding Character. She played an active role as a peer leader, a part-time student senator of the Student Bar Association, and a fellow for the American Bar Association Legal Education Police Practices Consortium.
Kimberly is committed to continuing her service to the community by zealously advocating for her clients through dedication and hard work.
Outside of work, Kimberly enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, reading, and trying new places in and around Knoxville.
