When people are starting the divorce process, or maybe the divorce process has been pending for a short period of time, the number one question a lot of times I get is, “Can I move out? Because I don’t want to live with my current spouse any longer.”

A lot of people are concerned that that gives the other spouse a grounds for divorce, or that’s somehow held against them in the divorce process. I tell people it’s fine to go ahead and move out, to get your own residence, so that some of the friction between you and your spouse may stop. A lot of times, it’s good for the children as well, because they don’t see their parents fighting.

So if you’re facing a situation where you may be going through a divorce, or thinking about going through a divorce, always, though, make sure you contact an attorney before you take any action. We at Banks & Jones deal with these types of situations every day, and we are glad to help you. We have lots of clients in the Knoxville area and counties in East Tennessee.
